Gulf Coast of Mexico, Mexico and Central America hotel rooms at the Independent

"Pros: Close to el fogon and don sirloin for eating options. Walkable to centro (eg 20 mins to Benito and 5th) Beautiful room, I looked out towards the coast and had a tree view and morning sun. great big bed, nice firm mattress. Was close to my chosen dive shop. Cons: Room not soundproofed - can hear outside, upstairs, next door and everything in the hallway Hallway is open to outdoors, traps heat and gets hotter than outside. Requested maintenance as (weird problem) the shower ONLY had HOT...

"Great hotel!!! Noisy from the clubs nearby at night but the property grounds and rooms are great!! Great staff at the Yum Yum Fusion restaurant! Isacc was a great waiter. Bartender at the hotel was awesome too. Will definitely visit again. "

"The staff at the resort are amazing! Everyone was very friendly and fun. The food was great - especially dinner at Hakka. The guys who run the activities have great personalities, the games and activities are fun. Also a big thanks to Rambo for being extremely polite and patient with our family. The ocean water is great, the sand is nice but there are some larger rocks you have to avoid when swimming. "

"I love Valentin and had no issues previously but this year I found a few things I did not like. The hotel needs more restaurants. There were many nights where the wait for some of the restaurants were 1.5 to 2 hours long. With no dinner buffet option, we had no other choice but to wait. Since our dinner ended up late most nights, we did not make it to any of the shows. The other issue I had was that people would leave their belongings on the beach/pool beds or chairs and not occupy them. There...
