Ask any traveler to name the perfect winter destination, and the Vail Ski Resort will likely be at the top of his or her list.

After all, this gem of Eagle County is one of North America’s largest ski spots together with Beaver Creek, the area offers more than 7,000 acres of skiable terrain with nearly 350 trails and six individual parks. What’s more, though the region is known for its star-studded villages and luxurious properties, it’s not difficult to track down deals and discount prices on ski rentals, lift tickets and Vail ski packages during any season. To put it bluntly, Vail skiing utterly epitomizes the sport.

Of course, all ski vacations are slightly different. If you’re interested in getting away from it all, focus your attention on Beaver Creek ski resort. This elegant resort is home to Bachelor Gulch, Arrowhead, and Beaver Creek Village, and its ski vacation packages give you access to gentle hills, steep drops and intermediate trails. You can even take a private lesson at the renowned ski school or sign up for one of the regional ski tours.

The Vail, Colorado Ski Resort, on the other hand, is where most of the action happens. 370 inches of snow blanket the area each year, so both the weather and powder are perfect for cruising runs. Head to the Back Bowls to revel in the wide-open spaces, check out the cornices and glades in Blue Sky Basin, or take a pass at one of the night skiing or heli skiing opportunities. Vail snowboarding is also beyond popular here the Back Bowls are ideal for it, but don’t discount the manicured Front Side. Book your tickets, reserve your rentals, and make a beeline for your favorite runs this CO masterpiece is calling your name.

Parking is a problem in Vail. The centralized parking garage requires a long walk to some of the shops. That is why we didn't visit the cute shops. They should provide some free shuttles for visitors to ride to and from the shops. That would improve retail sales.

Be prepared for switchbacks and cat tracks. There is a way to avoid most of them. Also some of the lift exits were flat so you really had skate ski to get out of the way of the next chair.

The gondola to the tubing area is free after 3:30. Get there a bit before because a line does form.

Season had not started, so most shops / restaurants are closed. However most restaurants are half price.

If you sleep with the windows open, try to book a forest room so your not hearing the highway noise.
