Warangal Fort appears to have existed since at least the 13th century CE. Although precise dating of its construction and subsequent enhancements are uncertain, historians and archaeologists generally accept that an earlier brick-walled structure was replaced with stone by Ganapati deva, who died in 1262, and that his successors – Rudramadevi and Prataparudra – added to its height and added gateways, square bastions and additional circular walls prior to the latter's death in 1323.

Bhongir fort
Bhongir or Bhuvanagiri fort is located ca. 50 km east from Hyderabad. Built in 12th century by local ruler Tribhuvanamahalla (hence the name Bhuvanagiri) Vikramaditya s on a vast egg-shaped monolithic rock rising 150 metres above terrain. Fortified by nature (shape of the rock) and by men (moats, walls, gates at the foot) it was almost unbreakable. Bala Hisar pavilon on top was built by Qutbshahi rulers of Golkonda kingdom (Hyderabad) in 17th century and it gives truly birdview perspective of the surrounding land and Bhongir town bellow. Beware to go up the rock soon after sunrise or before sunset as the stone gets hot during the day making the hike much more demanding.
