Raccoon Key, Key West hotel rooms at the Highgate Independent

"The property was lovely, beautiful beach area, great food, good service. The location is great, away from the craziness of the bars of Duval St. on the north end of the island, but a quick walk to go enjoy that nightlife. I was disappointed with the cleaning staff, it appeared that a trash bag ripped and spilled on one of the stairways (outside stairs) and there was trash, used sunblock containers, and dirty q-tips (someone had a serious wax issue) and nut shells. This happens occasionally, but the trash remained on the stairs for like 2 days. I reported it at the reception desk, but it was not dealt with for another day. It was still on the stairs when I checked out. I reported it again. They comped me some goodies. It wasn’t a big deal, but the trash and lack of cleaning it reflected poorly on the property. Room was great. Pools were amazing. Weather was better. Location was paradise. Service at bars and restaurants was tremendous. "

"Absolutely loved this place. Historic, newly renovated, close enough to tourist attractions without being right in the action. My only regret was not staying another day or two to enjoy the private beach! Very large room, beautiful bathroom with wonderful rainfall showerhead. "
