"Close to the action without being in it. Quiet, peaceful beaches. Grocery store, markets, pharmacy, bus etc all within very short walk. The hotel itself is super clean and well maintained. "Balsa Surf Camp is like staying with family! It has a wonderful atmosphere, and the location is nice and quiet within a very easy walk to town. For a surfing adventure, everything is at your fingertips and the team are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the daily yoga, thank you to the wonderful instructor Darcy Lynch. I will visit Montanita again, and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere other than Balsa. "

"Right on the beach, free yoga once a week, breakfast is included (and delicious) and the hotel is generally quiet (though one night these awful French tourists were drunk and making a racket and security never came to shut them up, which was surprising and a little disappointing). But overall the stay was great!"

"There was no hot water, no real curtains in the room. Being a girl alone this was scary at night. my friend actually broke her foot trying to walk down the steep hill. I am happy to provide proof. I didn’t have a blanket. No food or drinks service were provided during the week, only on the weekend. My room smelled like mold. I felt unsafe because the lock wasn’t secure. "

"Room and property was as described. Breakfast of bread, yogurt, bananas or apples , scrambled eggs and coffee was adequate. Pool was nice except the water was very cloudy. A short walk down some stairs to the beach which is what we really went there for."

"It's right on the beach in Olon which is the principal attraction, rooms are small but adequate air conditioning works but is a bit noisy and around 6 am I was greeted with what sounded like someone practicing the bass guitar close by. Other than that I would recommend it "
