With a large range of boat choices, one of the eastern seaboard’s largest charter boat fishing fleets has options for all fishing enthusiasts, and non-fishermen too.

The Oregon Inlet Fishing Center offers a range of charters, including offshore, near shore, inshore and head boat fishing. Located in the beautiful Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the center is perfect for fishing and nature enthusiasts alike. Learn to fish on an inshore charter or take on deep-sea sport fishing on an offshore boat.

Book a whole charter for your group. If you don’t have enough people for a full boat, choose the make-up charter option and the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center will fill the rest of the boat for you. Pick a boat depending on the kind of fishing experience you wish to have. Half-day and full-day options are available.

Explore the deep seas with offshore canyon fishing. At a greater distance from land, offshore charters are ideal for more experienced fishing enthusiasts. Catch a majestic surface-dwelling mahimahi, otherwise known as a dolphinfish. Challenge a wahoo, a top game fish prized for its speed and quality of flesh. These fighters are found in offshore waters, though not too far out.

Relax aboard an inshore charter boat in water usually less than 100 feet (30 meters) deep. Typically in smaller boats, the inshore experience is a more affordable and less intense alternative to offshore fishing. Catch smaller fish, such as flounder, red drum and trout. The center also charters head boats, sometimes known as party boats. These larger boats take a higher number of guests and are ideal for a more social fishing experience.

Launch your own boat at the excellent national park facility behind the center. Charter prices vary depending on the number of guests however, there is no fee to use the launch facility. The center provides free parking and a store where you can buy food, ice, bait, beverages, fuel, camping supplies and fishing tackle. Find the center at the north end of the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

Pick up a copy of the North Carolina fishing regulations from the main store at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center before heading into the pristine waters of the Atlantic Ocean or Roanoke Sound.
