"This hotel must have once been a grand establishment, but unfortunately the years have not been too kind to it. Many parts of the hotel are showing their age, and the place now feels too large and empty for the amount of business it sustains. We do want to give credit to the hotel staff for their kind service, and the rooms are really spacious even by Western standards. "I really enjoyed my one night stay here. The check in staff were very helpful and we had a very pleasant twin room. You select the amenities you want for the room in the lobby- there’s no wastage. The walk to the local shopping street and cable car to the castle on the hill is easy. And there is a tram over the way which we used to get to the Dogo Onsen. The room was fastidiously clean (as most of Japan is) and quiet. Great choice in Matsuyama."
