Hike along nature trails to discover the swimming holes and bridges of this scenic park surrounded by dense forests and towering mountains.

Lynn Canyon Park is a picturesque destination on Vancouver’s northern outskirts with a myriad of hiking trails of varying difficulty. Expect rugged mountains, thick rainforests and a daunting suspension bridge at this natural attraction. Bring your family for a serene woodland picnic with views of waterfalls and rapids.

Embark on the Baden Powell Trail, which runs for 30 miles (48 kilometers). Meander through the forests along the North Shore Mountains before braving the high wooden planks of the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge. The bridge stands 167 feet (50 meters) above Lynn Creek’s pools and streams. Visit the neighboring Twin Falls Bridge to see a pair of waterfalls. Other highlights on the Baden Powell Trail include Black Mountain, the Capilano River and Seymour Canyon.

Use the interactive displays in the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre to learn about the plants and animals of the park as well as environmental concerns relating to its rainforest. Afterwards, order snacks and refreshments at the Lynn Canyon Café.

Cross Old Pipe Bridge in the northwestern part of the park to capture photos of the tall trees and the water below. The bridge is wide and sturdy and stands above a pipe that traverses a canyon. Take in the views of 30 Foot Pool, which lies at the bottom of a wooden stairwell from the pipe. The pool consists of shallow water and rocks surrounded by dense woodland.

Hike along the stony river of Lynn Headwaters to reach Rice Lake. Take the trail around the lake to watch as local fishermen patiently hunt for trout.

Visit the park on any day of the year during daylight hours. The ecology center is closed over the Christmas holidays.

Drive northeast for 20 minutes to reach Lynn Canyon Park from the city center. The Vancouver Harbour separates the city from the park, which can be reached via the Lions Gate Bridge or the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge. The park can also be reached by bus.
