We had an amazing time here. The staff is very nice and helpful, the location is right in front of the lake and you get a breath taking view of mt. Fuji at the rooftop. The bath is very calming and the food is so delicious and fun to experience. I recommend this place definitely to anyone who plans to stay near mt. Fuji for a day or two. This was the highlight of our trip!

The service was amazing. The bath tub/sink in the room was too old. It's needed to update. The elevator didn't have any sensor. Just be careful because I got hit 2 times! Ouch! Japanese style meals were amazing. Everyday we got the different set both breakfast and dinner. The mattress in the room too thin and hurt my back. So, I put 2 or 3 mattress instead. I love the original ryokan look and tradition in this property. I wish I got the private onsen in the room. The location is good. We saw both view from lake and Fuji when clear sky.

Quite expensive to get such a dated room. Should invest to modernise the bathroom and toilet. Staff were super friendly and welcoming and the set meal was decent. But overall we feel that it was not very good value unfortunately.

We enjoyed our stay here. They offer a shuttle to and from the train station in the morning (0800-1100, I think) and again from 1400-1700. They have a strict no tattoo policy for the public onsen but do offer a private onsen that can be booked in 30 min increments for a fee. As mentioned by others they do not allow any changes to meals. This wasn't a problem for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Our room was spacious and clean. The location was very peaceful and serene.

We had a wonderful stay here. Both the dinner and the breakfast was amazing and so much food! The onsen has a nice lake view and very clean. Staff was very friendly and would not even let us wheel our own luggage to the room or to our taxi the next morning.

Wakakusa no Yado Maruei is a charming ryokan that exemplifies traditional Japanese hospitality in a serene setting. Guests are welcomed by attentive staff and can enjoy spacious rooms with tatami mats and beautiful views. The on-site onsen provides relaxation, while the kaiseki meals feature seasonal ingredients and exquisite presentation. If you want a little slice of heaven…
Very wonderful, authentic ryokan. If you are visiting the Lake Kawaguchiko area, I would highly encourage giving Wakakusa-no-Yado a try. The breakfast and dinner meals were amazing, the customer service (from walking in to checking out) was world class. Private and public onsens. Beautiful rooms with an even more breathtaking view… as well as a spectacular rooftop view of Mt. Fuji. Wish my Japanese was a little better so I could have told them, wholeheartedly, how blessed we were by our stay there.
