This is a nice little hotel on the beach with private beach access! As with every beach access we saw in Kill Devil Hills, there is a slightly steep dune to climb to get to the beach. When we were there, both the indoor and outdoor pools were open! This was great because they were rarely both busy at the same time. Breakfast was included with our cost and was good. Parking was free and convenient. The staff was kind, helpful and efficient. The room was clean and provided enough space.

We stayed for two nights. Very nice! Helpful and polite staff, nice pools, great access to beach, good breakfast! Area around it is not very walkable, no sidewalks. My only suggestion for the hotel is more shade at the outdoor pool..you need umbrellas or canopies or something. Very hot in June!

The room had a smell. The sink faucet would'nt drain since the stopper was pushed down, very hard time pulling it up. The luggage carts were small and getting them in the doors which weren't automatic were difficult. Breakfast could've been better. The area for smokers was right next to the path where you walk to get to the beach, so it smelled badly. That needs to be moved far away from others.

Definitely get a room on the 2nd floor or up. The dunes are right there and from the 2nd floor you got a view of the ocean for sunrise. Lots of good food nearby. Devil Hill Grill highly recommended as well as Goombays.

Shutters on the Banks is a clean, quiet, comfortable hotel on the beach with private beach access. The staff is friendly and helpful. The ocean view rooms are well worth the price. We'll definitely stay there again.
