Juarez Park Tours

Juarez Park featuring a garden

Beautiful green gardens, water features and sporting facilities make this urban green space a wonderful place to relax or work out.

Enjoy the great outdoors at Juarez Park, an inviting city park with French-style gardens, water fountains, sculptures, monuments and sports and play areas. Come to relax away from the crowds, get a workout on the exercise equipment and picnic in shaded, leafy green surroundings.

Visit this large green space along the banks of the Laja River. It was created at the beginning of the 20th century and is named after Pablo Juárez García, who served as president of Mexico for five terms during the 19th century.

Stroll or jog along paths lined by trees and lush vegetation native to the region, such as walnut trees and chirimoyo. Study the sculptures and monuments, watch a game of basketball in the courts, work out on the public exercise equipment and then relax on a shaded bench. The park features a children’s playground with climbing structures, swings and slides.

Enjoy a picnic in one of the designated areas. Alternatively, if you are hungry, walk to Taco Corner, located at the end of one of the roads that leads to the park. This is a well-known spot for street food, where vendors prepare tacos, carnitas and other types of sizzling snacks from their mobile kitchens.

During weekends, browse the creations of local artists who set up stalls to sell their works. Juarez Park is also used as a venue for concerts and other cultural activities. Every year at the beginning of February, it hosts La Candelaria, a flower festival that features thousands of blooms of all shapes, colors and sizes.

Juarez Park is located south of the historic center, less than a 5-minute walk from El Jardin. In common with many other places in the city, only limited street parking is available here. Among the nearby sites of interest are the Paseo del Chorro and its wash houses. Visit these beautiful old structures where people wash their clothes, a practice that has been going on here since the 19th century. On some days, artists paint and sell their works from these buildings.
