Friedrichsbau Varieté is a vaudeville theater with an eclectic mix of entertainment shows, including magic, comedy, jugglers and acrobats. This popular downtown venue first started entertaining Stuttgart audiences in 1900. Among the showbusiness legends that have graced its stage are dancer and singer Josephine Baker, the circus clown Charlie Rivel and comedian and folk singer Karl Valentin.
The original building was pulled down in 1955 because of fire damage during World War II. The new theater opened in 1994 and since then hundreds of acts have performed for more than two million visitors. Watch burlesque shows, comedy, dance, music, drama and more. Friedrichsbau Varieté attracts unique and specialty acts from all over the world.
Visit the theater’s website to study its varied program. There are matinees and evening performances throughout the year. Look for family variety shows that are sometimes performed in the afternoons. Enjoy a popular Friedrichsbau Varieté tradition by watching a matinee with some cake and a pot of tea or coffee at your seat.
In the evening, combine your visit with dinner by booking a pre-performance meal in the theater’s restaurant. On the menu are international cuisines and regional dishes. Sip on champagne or wine in the lobby or by the fountain outside the entrance in the warmer months. An extensive drinks list is available before evening performances and during intermission.
Pay for your tickets online or at the theater. The box office is open every day except Sunday. There are discounts for students up to the age of 27, senior citizens over the age of 65 and patrons with a disability.
