This is undoubtedly the premiere property for those wishing to visit Cradle Mountain. Chalet style rooms are well appointed in a beautiful setting. Family food or fine dining is available. You can short-walk beautiful forest with waterfalls and animals, right outside the building.
The price is high. On this trip I stayed at the unmatchable MONA pavilions which cost somewhat less with a ton of high-quality free stuff.
One could argue that the proximity of Cradle Mountain Lodge to the Mountain and Dove Lake are worth the price, but there is now a boom gate to get into the park to see these things, so you either have to purchase a high-price park entry AND a high-price heavily-booked shuttle bus pass (about $170 extra for two adults and a child), OR wait in hope that you are one of the few cars they'll let in after the last bus has left the park, in time to see the final hour of daylight (with no way to predict success and you'll still pay $75 for the park entry for the three of us).
This difficulty surprises most people who might imagine that visiting the national park, when staying right next to the entry in high-price accommodation might be easy, or perhaps part of the deal for guests (MONA gave museum entry with accommodation), but we may well have made the drive, paid for the accommodation, and never even been able to see the attraction that is the main reason for the visit.
Apart from that, it's a lovely hotel :)
