Containing one of the town’s oldest commercial enterprises, this tranquil beach beside the marina has great historical and geographical importance.

Bordering the entrance to the Cabo San Lucas Marina, Cannery Beach is an unspoiled stretch of sand providing views of the surrounding cliffs. Adorning the beach are rock piles, rows of straw umbrellas and a historic building with an intriguing past. Amble along the picturesque strand and get a closer look at bobbing boats moored in the nearby docks.

Take shelter from the scorching sun in the shade of a straw umbrella. Snap photos of your children beside the colorful wall decorated with painted fish and boats. Kids will enjoy climbing on the rocks and cooling off with a dip in the sea. Bring snorkeling gear to view the multicolored fish swimming around in the clear water.

Spot the white building lining the rear of the beach. Although it is today somewhat run-down and covered in graffiti, the cannery played a key role in the town’s development, as one of its first commercial enterprises. Gaze up at the rugged cliffs topped by a green plateau behind the building.

Enjoy the serenity on this pristine beach. The area doesn’t have services and amenities, although occasional ice cream vendors venture onto the strand on busier weekends. The beach is generally quiet Monday through Friday. Stock up on snacks and drinks from a nearby shop and set up a picnic on the sand. You can also head to the adjacent harbor for restaurants and cafés serving delicious seafood.

Note that the beach actually consists of several small bays, including Coral Negro Beach and El Balcón. Find Cannery Beach on the southern side of the point where Cabo San Lucas Marina meets the sea. Walk east from Amelia Wilkes Square to get here in about 20 minutes. While in the area, consider hiking up Mt. Solmar or taking a boat to Lover’s Beach, where you’ll be able to see the magnificent Arch of Cabo San Lucas.
