Admire the excellent paintings and sculptures and feel the spooky ambiance on a guided ghost tour of this manor house.

Bodelwyddan Castle is a 15th-century mansion open to the public as a museum. It stands in the midst of vast and picturesque parkland with landscape gardens. Stroll through the castle’s various rooms and chambers for a glimpse into the majesty of the site.

Admire the regal façade of the castle, with its limestone turrets and battlements. Enter the structure and learn about the affluent families who inhabited it, such as the Humphreys of Anglesey. Among the highlights are the Entrance Hall, the Watts Hall of Fame and the Dining Room. Stroll through the long corridors and inspect paintings from the Victorian era lining the walls.

Trek through the paths of the 16-acre (6-hectare) woodland area. It contains an orchid garden, landscape garden and deer park. Bring your kids to the butterfly house and spot birds in the sky.

Participate in a guided investigation into the paranormal with one of the castle’s monthly Ghost Hunt events. Expect a few scares in this allegedly haunted manor house. Dim lights, motion sensors and table tilting may contribute to the eerie atmosphere. The castle has appeared on several television programs about spooky houses.

Relax with pastries, snacks and drinks at the Caffi Celf. The castle setting is available for weddings and general venue rental.

The site opens daily from late morning until afternoon. There is a fee to enter, with discounts for kids and free entrance for toddlers. Prices are lower in winter than summer, but the grounds are particularly beautiful once spring arrives.

The Bodelwyddan Castle is in its namesake village, just 5 miles (8 kilometers) south of Rhyl, near the north coast of Wales. Take a bus to the stop near Marble Church and walk south for a few minutes to get here. Visit nearby landmarks, such as Kinmel Park Golf and the Seaquarium in Rhyl.
