VERY NOISY. We stayed here for 4 nights as it was located on Placa de Caralunya and La Rambla. Unfortunately it was the week leading up to the Formula 1 race and there was a stage setup in the square. They were playing very loud music on a loop from early morning to around 10pm. It was so loud that the windows in the room were vibrating. This was compounded by the hotel doing construction work on lower floors and the jack hammers started around 7.30am. The air conditioner in the room was a portable unit and very loud. It was a case of open the window and put up the the external noise or suffer with the AC. Even after the construction and music stopped on an evening it is still a noisy location. There are lots of people on the streets at midnight and you get shouting traffic noise
We requested the room be serviced once during our stay and we returned to the room to find that it had been unlocked all day - not good.
On the final morning there was a large cockroach in the shower.
The reception staff were friendly and sympathetic to the noise issues but there was nothing they could do about it. They said that when its not formula 1, there are other events in the square throughout the summer so expect it to be noisy.We had seen pictures of the rooms on the web prior to booking and they looked good. We must have either got a non renovated room or the pictures were taken a long time ago. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. Its basic and very much in need of renovation.
