"Luckily we arrived in daylight, as the road up to the Osteria zig-zagged in impossible hairpins up from the valley. It's possible that after dark and unlit we might just have turned around and headed for somewhere flat. However, if we had done we would have missed a completely unique experience. The hamlet of Anzonico clings to the side of an Alp and there is no vehicle access to the Osteria. Parking is in a lay by about 50 yards further up. "Good location hotel, walkable distance from Ancona old town and lake. Nice pickup and drop of with hotel bus (from and to Locarno train station. Staff was overwhelmed with a series of group booking, confusion was evident but no improvement. My room was a small but with a view, AC not working and none of the staff knew how to fix it. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake and pool was a nice setting but staff again overwhelmed with groups."

The inside dining room & outside were exactly what you would expect of a top of the line Swiss resort. "Very convenient to downtown Locarno. Staff very helpful! Breakfast excellent! Parking was tough! Very tight access and spaces. Laundry turned out to be one washer and one dryer in the basement. We had chosen the hotel specifically to be able to catch up on laundry. We thought there was a washer/dryer in each unit. It worked out ok, but we were lucky, as this turns out to be a tour hotel with many large groups. We will stay again, just understand the constraints better. "
