Our stay exceeded all expectations and we absolutely loved it! Our room was modern, clean and well equipped with more amenities than we were expecting which is always lovely including little touches like extra refreshments on top of the expected tea and coffee and a smart tv with access to all usual steaming services. We loved the hot tub (which is serviced by staff daily) and the chiminea with firewood which made for the perfect evenings in such a quiet and tranquil setting. We ate breakfast both mornings in the main hall which was exceptional, such large portions and high quality ingredients. All the staff were so lovely and attentive we could not recommend more! We staying a detached double garden room which felt so private and special and we wouldn't hesitate to book again!

I would absolutely come back to Newton Hall and stay in the Deluxe Garden Room with hot tub/soaking tub in the garden. It was nice and quiet and really private. There aren't enough breakfast slots for the number of rooms to have a full breakfast at the Joiners Arms which is a little disappointing, we arrived the same time as two other couples and when it was our turn to book the only slot left was 8am and we wanted a lie in so had to get the one delivered to the room. However, we were more than happy with the hot sausage and bacon roll, we also received juice, yoghurt, nakd bars, and 2 pastries per person - a significant amount of food! The fish and chips are good from the Joiners arms but £20 for fish and chips is outrageous, the smallest pot of curry sauce was an additional £3. There is no other choice in the area. A lovely spot to explore the beaches, the two pubs in Newton are very sweet and a great place for a drink after a big walk. Will be back!

We booked 2 nights in a ‘cosy’ garden room and were a little worried given quite a few recent reviews and pictures about damp, mould and wet wood in bathrooms. Fortunately our room was absolutely perfect (12) and we found the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. A boiler breakdown left us with no warm water after our 1st night. Staff response was super fast, full breakfast was delivered to our room (as we couldn’t get a shower before walking down to the pub for breakfast) and immediate plans for a room switch put into place. We were moved into a beautiful deluxe suite in the main Hall and following an afternoon walk returned to find an ice bucket and prosecco, kindly left by the lovely lady on reception. Breakfasts are superb, beds and bedding some of the comfiest we’ve ever slept in and every member of staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the new room after the unfortunate boiler breakdown. Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous location…huge thank you from us both for the attentive and exemplary levels of customer service we received.

Close proximity of neighbours is not apparent on website. We had very rowdy neighbours on our last night. They were shouting, moving furniture and slamming doors between 12.30 and 2.30 at night

Check in reception area difficult to find. Parking area difficult to find. No available seating for breakfast so had to have a bag of food delivered to your door at their appointed time (8-845). Walkways to your room were made with very loose stones so almost impossible to manoeuvre your luggage-not senior friendly. Only 1 restaurant available to eat at and when the 4 of us went for supper we could not eat inside! Had to eat out on picnic tables and it was cold out! The multiple empty tables inside were being held for reservations! Having fire pits at each unit is a great idea until it is hot in your room and you can’t open your door as the smell of smoke from the neighbours fire pit comes right in

Wasn't for me
On first glance the cozy room was cute. But the longer I stayed the more flaws appeared. Mould in bathroom, bathrobes were grubby and well worn albeit clean. Towels also felt well worn. Bathroom door didn't shut. Light in the cupboard with tea / coffee maker was in a sensor that went off every few seconds. When the persons in the neighbouring room came back a light shone through to our room. Hit my head on the tv. Not allowed in newton hall for food or drinks tho the food / breakfast offered at the local pub was very nice and probably the best bit.

Really disappointing
Really disappointing stay. Lovely spot but clearly just set up for wedding guests despite being offered more generally. Looks lovely but just didn’t work well for a family - three night stay and hot water failed on 2 days. Kitchen but no tea towel. Leaking radiator and permanently wet floor. Kept being promised a call back from the manager but never received this.

Disappointing
We have just returned from our first stay at the garden rooms and overall feel a little underwhelmed. Check-in - we arrived just at check in time and headed to the main building to find a reception. We couldn't find a single member of staff anywhere and stood at reception for a good 20 mins, headed round the back and a cleaner confirmed we were at the right place. Proceeded back to the desk and a queue had built up still no staff to be found. A further 10 minutes passed and someone appeared on reception and we finally got given our keys. Room - overall first impressions were good. Small details let it down and just didn't have a luxury feel and more of a glamping feeling in my opinion. Curtains were hanging off so they didn't cover the full glass front, easily rectified by standing on a chair and clipping them back on. Bedding was worn and clicked in places. Extra cushions on the bed were stained and dirty. Teabags and the tea tray were all soggy and looked like they had been there for years, I headed round to reception for new teabags. Bathroom felt grubby. I know these are garden rooms but the ceiling and blinds were thick of cobwebs and bugs which I hated. Outside furniture covered in bird poo and again cobwebs all over. Hot tub was lovely and hot which we enjoyed. We returned from our dog walk to find someone had taken the chimnea from our patio which was really disappointing and we tried to contact reception by the room phone but couldn't get through to anyone.

Gorgeous cabins. Very modern interior, finished to a high standard. Lovely outdoor area with hot tub, chimney and furniture. Low Newton beach is walkable from the cabins and is a beautiful beach. The Joiners Arms serves lovely food and drinks. The breakfast is fabulous. Lovely stay in both winter and summer.

Needs some work!
I really wanted to love this place! The photos on the listing are amazing, and while the room I stayed in was beautifully decorated, there were a few things that really let it down. On booking, I added a note that I would be staying with my dog. On arrival, the staff seemed surprised that I was staying alone (despite one person being stated on the booking) and the advertised bed, bowls and treats for dogs weren’t in my room. I had to track someone down to ask for them. The charge for dogs also seems very steep! The room itself had a strong musty smell, which I found was due to black mould along the bottom of the walls in the bathroom particularly in the shower. There’s a small window in the bathroom but this doesn’t open. There’s also no AC or ventilation in the room apart from the sliding patio doors. As a result; I had to sleep with the door open to let some fresh air in and cool the room down. There were hairs on the bed and the shower when I checked in. The loo roll and hand towel holders were also loose, and the bathroom sink doesn’t drain very well so nearly overflowed when I was washing my face before bed. The room is in a semi-detached cabin - not an issue but they aren’t hugely soundproof and I could feel people walking round in the background room next door as the floor shook. Breakfast was also disappointing. Each of these things alone wouldn’t have been a huge issue but collectively put a dampener on the stay. Sadly, I won’t be back.

Nice idea, average execution
Note on Garden Rooms reception that says come to main hall to check in. Absolutely no signposting as to where this might be however. Left walking along a country road with no pavements and our luggage looking for it. Turns out access is at the far end of the car park, but completely out of sight from the reception especially when car park is full, as it was. Pretty infuriating start. Rooms are nice, but you are sharing your pod with other guests which we werent aware of. Has a strange feel to it. One side of the pod is huge glazed sliding doors, unfortunately the view from them was a brick wall about 10 feet away, seems a waste. Beds were also really quite firm. One of our light switches was completely broken, took no exaggeration about 50 attempts to turn the light off as we were trying to go to bed. The bottom of the door also fell apart as we opened it to leave. Didnt seem to fit the frame very well. Nice place and nice idea but quite a few things letting it down.
