“Our room was clean and comfortable. It was a good size and set up for a family as we needed. We were disappointed that the spa was closed, an odd decision to close the spa at the weekend when travellers are most likely to want to use it. Breakfast was a little underwhelming but plenty to choose from. The cereal packets were quite a long way out of date. The traffic was quite loud from our room at the front of the hotel. A room at the back would be much better to be able to sleep through. Just...

“We had a lovely stay. The breakfast was first class, as were the staff. I have two comments about our room (8) - the pillows were a bit lumpy and if we had occasion to stay again, I’d request not to stay in this room because of the two steep steps down into the bathroom. Younger folk may have no problem with them but being that much older and having creaky knees, it wasn’t easy to negotiate them. Thankfully there was a very sturdy rail to hold onto. But I’d still request a different room. All...

“I found the Hotel easily from the Railway Station after a short walk. I found everything about the place lovely! Lovely room with all you need available, lovely comfortable bed and a lovely Breakfast with everything you could to need! Staff lovely and polite. The only downside was its position on a main road and by forgetting to shut window/ bathroom door got woke up by the morning commute!!!”

“A nice warm welcome from the owners. Great family room with bunk beds for the kids. Nice and clean too. Great location for heading into York. Just around 10 minutes walk from the minster etc. ”

“The single room was comfortable, clean and pleasant. It had tea making facilities, a hair drier and iron. The en suite was of a good size and private. The only draw back was the shower - it had little water pressure and the shower hose was a poor fit. I had a key to a separate entrance which gave me freedom to avoid the bar and flexibility to come and go.”
