“Food was poor. A number of items were not available, choice was very limited, breakfast was inedible. The bar shut very early even to residents and the hotel was locked up ridiculously early on a beautiful summers evening. The property was very clean but in severe need of upgrading. We gather it is changing hands, which may be responsible for the problems we had, but it cannot be a bad thing.”

“It was cozy and neat. They do not have an elevator, so I had to bring my heavy suitcase to the 2nd floor. The food was good, they serve very nice lunch. ”

“The Langley Castle hotel was a wonderful experience. The staff could not be more accommodating, friendly and helpful. It's been a long time since we experienced such great service and felt so welcomed! We were offered help with our bags, which given the narrow and winding stairs, would be a good option for anyone with a heavy or large suitcase. “Great hotel. The location is fantastic, the staff go above and beyond. A favourite spot for a getaway with opportunity to walk, visit High Force waterfall, have a drink in the cosy bar and dine in the elegant dining room. Breakfast was great - the food is obviously local and fresh.”

“The only downside was breakfast only one staff member to take order and cook as well which meant the self service area was not restocked so there was no juice or cutlery left so had to improvise. Area very small had to move table backwards and forwards to get legs under table from both sides. Long wait for breakfast and only one piece of toast would be better with 2. “No evening meal due to chef needing time off, staff seemed to have no idea what was happening. Only food available in the area was pizza at a hostel across the road. Breakfast room opened at 8:30 and consisted of help yourself Coco pops, croissants or toast, if you had an early start, nothing. Overall a very poor experience.”

It’s an old building bathrooms could a be bit nicer but feeling of the hotel is great. All beautifully maintained outside and excellent spot for walking. Hence 5 stars review”

“Room was clean and comfortable, staff were courteous. We had a problem with the lock on the outside door and struggled to get into the hotel when we returned. There was no one to contact if we had been unable to open the door ”

“This was a good stop-over hotel. It's not conventional - just a few rooms but a well-stocked help-yourself breakfast room, and it worked well for one night and the owner, Julia, was lovely and helpful. The room was relatively small - but well appointed and tea/coffee options and bathroom toiletries were all good.
