“Great hotel. The location is fantastic, the staff go above and beyond. A favourite spot for a getaway with opportunity to walk, visit High Force waterfall, have a drink in the cosy bar and dine in the elegant dining room. Breakfast was great - the food is obviously local and fresh.”

“No evening meal due to chef needing time off, staff seemed to have no idea what was happening. Only food available in the area was pizza at a hostel across the road. Breakfast room opened at 8:30 and consisted of help yourself Coco pops, croissants or toast, if you had an early start, nothing. Overall a very poor experience.”

Both rooms were clean, the only comment I could make about the bathroom is that a simple spray of mould and mildew remover would get rid of the black line along the bath. The breakfast was excellent and well cooked, the girl who served was pleasant and chatty. Only downside, for someone who is just over 80, I found the stairs difficult to negotiate with my case, it would have been helpful if the young man who checked me had asked if I needed help.
