Punawai Hale Barn Bungalow at this property is a wonderfully atmospheric and memorable place to stay. The spacious room with its tropical décor feels warm and inviting, and the sunroom overlooking a lively duck pond adds a peaceful charm. With ducks, chickens, cockerels, sheep, and goats roaming the grounds, the property feels lovingly crafted and uniquely farm‑like, making our stay both relaxing and distinctive — but it’s best suited for guests who enjoy animals and don’t mind a farm‑style environment.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Volcano Ranch. It is super convenient to Volano Park, but also a gem unto itself. The animals are delightful and our room overlooking the pond was super warm and cozy on a cool, rainy day. Every detail has been considered to make your stay here as comfortable as possible. Would definitely stay again should we ever be in the area!

Nice place to stay in very close range of the Volcano National Park. Our children hat lots of fun with the animals at the farm.

Wonderful B&B near Volcanoes N.P.

Super comfortable and well appointed room in a delightful setting near Volcanoes National Park. The barn yard animals roaming the grounds were delightful!

This lovely secluded rain forest cabin is wonderfully private, very close to the park, and the owners are extremely responsive (by text). They provide coffee and bottled water (although the filtered rain water is fine too). Note that it’s a pretty big place so takes a bit to warm up on cold wet days, but worth it!

Great Bed and Breakfast

A nice, clean property with a great location! The beds were very comfortable, and we liked having breakfast brought to our room. The papaya bowls were especially great! The host's suggestions about the surroundings area was spot on.

Lovely BnB, great location and host.

We loved the stay, really family friendly and and great location near the volcanoes national park. We loved the animals, especially the chickens roosting up the tree. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

This place was our stopover after a full day and evening at the park. It was about 10 minutes away from inside the park. House was cozy, heated pads on the bed were a nice touch after the cold fog all day. I especially loved the welcome cat on the property and the black chicken who perched on our railing to sleep for the night. All the animals were friendly which is a testiment to their loving environment.

Staying at Volcano Acres was truly one of the most special parts of my Big Island trip. The peaceful pond, adorable animals, and beautiful surroundings made it feel like a little sanctuary. Inside, every detail showed so much thought and care: the comfortable cotton sheets, cozy robe, delicious coffee, helpful notebook, and all the little touches that made the room feel warm and welcoming. The breakfast was exceptional: fresh, high-quality, and beautifully prepared. I especially loved the wonderful fresh papaya Evie prepared. You could feel the care that went into everything. But what made this stay unforgettable was Theresa. She is the kind of person who puts her whole heart into what she does, and I could genuinely feel her kindness and caring throughout my stay. I feel lucky not only to have stayed here, but to have met her and had the chance to have a meaningful conversation with her. This is much more than a beautiful place to stay. It has heart, and that is something you don’t find everywhere. I left feeling genuinely grateful that I chose this place. ❤️🌿

Breakfast to our room daily was a big treat! The room was large and had more amenities than any other place we have stayed at. Theresa is a great host!

Unique farmhouse property with a lovely sunporch overlooking the pond and farm. Surrounded by friendly goats and assorted geese, ducks, chickens, roosters, farm cats and a pig nicknamed “Vlad the Destroyer”. Great freshly-made breakfasts, too.

The accommodations were terrific, a great value in superb location for visiting Volcanoes National Park and Hilo area. Spacious, comfortable beds. Host was very accommodating by offering to deliver to-go breakfasts as we had an early morning flight. I recommend the Lanikai Brewing Co for dinner if you stay here- the best food we ate in Hawaii for adults and kids- also great beer and excellent cocktail lists with low-key come as you are feel (i.e. sweatpants).
