When we arrived, the management did not have our reservation. Since we were travelling on business and only had 2 leisure nights, and hence one full day in Venice, we were not pleased. After investigating, they said it was hotel.com's fault, not theirs. Instead of the small apt.we reserved, they found us a room in a very basic hotel, with inadequate bathroom plumbing and although it had a view of the canal, the entire shoreline in front of the hotel was lined with garbage dumpsters which ruined the view and had lids that banged every time someone used them. They did give us a discount. We got to move to the apartment the next day, but in the middle of our only free day. The little apartment was fine, in a quiet alleyway, except that it had no internet (advertised on hotels.com as having wifi) It did actually have wifi but unfortunately the wifi was not connected to any internet service. We were told that it was a problem in the area, but cafes in the area seemed to have no problem. The next morning the power went out. We looked for the breaker box and found it, but it was not tripped. The manager came, after my companion had a cold shower, and he found a second breaker box out in the hallway that we had not discovered, and he restored the power. The staff were nice but not much they could do. Overall, well, what can one say when it is Venice? Venice is fascinating, pretty at every turn and romantic. If you don't have a nice visit, it is nobody's fault but your own!
