The price I paid for booking on Hotels.com was contested by the guest house owner as being in error. After several phone calls, it was determined that this was no fault of my own, but rather a programming glitch. Yet I was made to feel responsible for this:
The room I was given was not what I had booked. There was also no safe in the room as indicated on the booking.
The room looked tired, needing some TLC maintenance (dusty rafters, sagging bed, broken chest of drawers, broken trimmings, stubborn toilet flush). The shower has no place to hang your bits while you're showering. Other than that, the heating was great and parking onsite was very helpful. The location of the site is also good.
Breakfast was a disappointment: very menial and uninspiring (coffee and sugar from sachets, one loaf of bread for toast, 3 cereals, orange juice). I was advised that I would have to pay £6 extra for a cooked breakfast - this was not in the initial booking information. The radio was on very loud in the room adjacent to the breakfast room, which did not aid the ambience nor assist my tinnitus.
I did not feel cared for as a customer and felt the proprietor was more interested in getting my money than whether or not I had a restful stay. I will not be returning to this venue - it was overpriced even for the lower price I paid.
