The apartment was old, dirty, and poorly managed ( Platinum Pillow Management Service). It was located next to a main road where cars drive very fast. Crossing the street to take the bus was very dangerous since there was no traffic light. The parking lot outside the apartment was littered with garbage, and as soon as you walked inside, there was a foul smell.
The two-bedroom apartment was spacious, but everything was old and worn out. The bedside lamp in my room was broken but could be repaired, while the main light in the room flickered and was faulty. The bed was in terrible condition, though the bedsheets were clean. One of the bathrooms, which had no windows, had poor ventilation, making it extremely stuffy during the summer. Even when the water temperature was set to the coldest, it was still too hot, and the showerhead was broken, causing water to spray everywhere and making it impossible to fix it in place. The bathroom mirror light was also broken, as was the toilet paper holder. The kitchen and furniture were all old. The balcony was dilapidated and overgrown with weeds. Walking out onto it felt dangerous, as it was unstable and could collapse. This summer in Oxford was quite hot, and the apartment didn’t have air conditioning. Opening the windows wasn’t an option either because the noise from the traffic outside was too loud, making it impossible to sleep. Nothing fixed even after our Seven days of the stay.
