The guy who runs the place speaks very little English and doesn't respond to emails, but it ends up working out if nothing goes wrong and there's no confusion. I had a bit of a runaround but that was my fault.
The place is right next to the railroad tracks so there's a bit of sound at night, but it was spacious by japanese standards and well stocked. It had a full bath, which made me all kinds of happy. The heating wasn't really up to American standards, but a European who is used to wearing sweaters and whatnot indoors may not mind.
Overall, I liked it and it was one of my favorite places to stay in Japan, but I could easily see it being a bad experience for someone who is more sensitive to neighborhood factors.
It's a 480 yen ride each way from Namba station, which effectively means that for most people you're going to spend a few more bucks a night here than other places, and there aren't a lot of restaurant etc options nearby, either. That said, the place itself is pretty nice.
