“You must have a car while visiting this property. Otherwise there is nothing to do. There is a very nice outdoor pool that is not heated. So it must be warm enough outside to enjoy it. The hotel offers a nice breakfast. There is no bar or restaurant at the hotel. About a half mile walk from the hotel is a very expensive restaurant with a limited menu. I don't believe it is open for lunch. Another reason you need a car. During check in I noticed a large hose slightly larger than a dryer...

“We stayed 3 nights at the adjacent building Casa Amarela and we knew ahead of time that there would be steps to access the room- not a problem with that. However, our room is about a 5-6 minute walk from the reception and the main restaurant—not a problem unless you have luggage—- as the walk is a bit hilly. On arrival our luggage was brought to Casa Amarela via a golf cart- not us- luggage only and that helped. Upon departure they completely refused to transport the luggage to the reception...

“Check in was great, with a welcome glass of Port. Breakfast was perfect every morning with plenty of options and very scenic views. Room was little dated and the area itself is secluded. If you’re looking for that, than this is the spot. The highlight of the trip in Douro was the wine tour about an hour away. Beautiful area beautiful resort. ”

We had garden view rooms and it had a very beautiful porch with roses. The whole property is very well maintained, and not touristy at all. Peace and quality everywhere .Dinner was lovely.”

“We had an exceptional stay here! The owner, Manuel, was so kind and helpful. He recommended several wonderful wineries and restaurants. The property is clean and beautiful. The pool is lovely. The breakfast was delicious and they were accommodating of food allergies. The location was very convenient. We can’t wait to come back!”

“We had a comfortable room with a patio overlooking the Douro River. Staff very friendly. The only negative from our point of view was the window from the shower into the room. The botton 2/3 rds are translucent and upper 1/3 clear. If a light is turned on in bathroom bedroom is lit up as well . Also the obvious privacy issues. Other than the the room , hotel , staff, bar and restaurant are great.”

“This is a hidden gem if you want to explore the Douro Valley area around Pinhao . Staff were excellent especially made great recommendations on places to go and things to do . We opted to eat at the property and it was a great choice as the food was really good. Would rate this place as 5 star . ”
