A splendid and very welcoming country hotel set above the small town of Ferentillo in the Valnerina. Our first impressions were: secure parking (remote-controlled gates), friendly and obliging staff, splendid views from the terrace, and well-equipped kitchenette in the apartment. The apartment consisted of large living room/kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom. There is a lovely swimming pool.
Breakfast was provided and was of good quality (and quantity). For our other meals we self-catered; the kitchenette came into its own.
The staff were all friendly and obliging, attending immediately to any small request we made. As we were mainly self-catering, we did not need room service every day but towels and bedlinen were changed when we requested. The swimming pool was opened and cleaned for us (perhaps earlier than Italians themselves would have used it!) and it was lovely.
The hotel is well situated for a quiet and relaxing holiday - and for a little bit of exploration. We visited the local abbey (with great murals). We went over to Spoleto in the next valley. And, most memorably, had a wonderful day going all the way up the Valnerina valley - to Monteleone, Norcia (the birthplace of St Benedict) and the Piano Grande in the Monti Sibillini.
Or, we just sat on the terrace with a bottle of wine and a book and enjoyed the view - and the peace and quiet.
