“Friendly welcome. Characterful room with good quality tea tray. Great breakfast. Unfortunately the room was not overly clean and the bathroom in particular was tired, run down and felt grubby. Black and dirty sealant around the outside of shower. Broken tiles on floor, broken loo roll holder, grubby and badly marked walls and thick dust/grime on skirting. With a deep clean and a little maintenance this could be a great place to stay.”

“We had a two night stay here for our anniversary. Cannot fault anything. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and immaculately clean. Breakfast was a great experience lots of choices from cold and hot options. Lovely garden to sit and relax. Had a lovely walk along the canal. Overall a great experience. ”

“Reception desk minimal, breakfast good. Clerk had trouble finding my reservation, then asked for my passport, then settled for driver's licence (but why?).”

“Our room was like a bake house with no aircon. We had to open all the windows in the room and bathroom. When we got back to our room at around 12 midnight we could not get to sleep until around 2am due to the people in the adjoining room. If we had realised the room was adjoining we would not have stayed in that room. All we heard was laughing and the tv way too high volume. The sink in the bathroom was blocked so couldn’t drain. We will not be staying here again unfortunately.”

“Nice, traditional pub/restaurant with hotel rooms in a separate building. Safe car park with lots of spaces. Great food in the restaurant and really nice, helpful staff. Good spacious bedroom with tv, fridge, iron/board. Only downside was incredibly creaky and noisy floorboards, so could hear all guests coming and going and very aware that ours were noisy too, so trying to creep about if needing the loo during the night. Also, our walk-in shower door didn’t seal, so bathroom floor flooded...

“Had a great stay atvyhe Hurtwood. Found it by chance. Great village with plenty of walking direct in to the Surrey Hills as directed by the lovely lady who checked us in. Room very comfortable with fresh milk provided. We found the car park easy for a big car, but would not be so easy in season I think. Dinner in the bar was excellent and good portions. Breakfast cooked to order also great. Will go again. Thank you.”

“This is an excellent facility with good beds and bathrooms. Our stay was spoilt by surly unhelpful reception staff. After telling us that we could not check in before 3 pm, the same person checked in a crew of pilots. Then at 3:05 When apparently we qualified to check in we were given a room on the top floor. My wife had an injured knee and asked if there was a room available on a lower floor. Although we were the first to book in after 3 pm we were told there were no other rooms...

“Everything was as usual really lovely. Unfortunately that Sunday happened to be the coldest and when l arrived the room was freezing cold. Staff tried their best to rectify the situation but to no avail. After an hour or more Lady Den brought me an extra quilt so l can use. The lady was a God sent she managed to get the temperature to at least 17 and it made a real difference. Overall l ended up with a good night in a warm place. Staff are so helpful at The Hamilton Arms.”

“Beautiful location and property very nice but can't believe there is no lift / elevator in the building. Disappointing breakfast offering. Two breakfast buffet offerings advertised, continental £12.95 and hot £16.95 but on the first day there was no hot buffet. Hot food was ordered a la carte from the kitchen (plated) and price remained £16.95 regardless of what was ordered. Surely pricing should have been adjusted. Overall a very pleasant stay but if you're a senior or someone with disabilities...

“Hotel is very nice to stay. But it is not easy to travel without a car because of the public transport system is not affordable and though equiped its own pub (restaurant) in the hotel, there are few shops, restaurants, pubs etc within walking distance.”
