We stayed at Finest in Mexico a few years ago in a Family Suite, and it was absolutely perfect! Based on that experience, we decided to return this year. Unfortunately, our experience this time was not as smooth.
We were given a Junior Suite, and the first room had two double beds, which felt odd for a couple traveling together. On top of that, the room had a strong unpleasant smell. When we complained, we were initially offered an air purifier, which we declined. After multiple back-and-forth discussions, our room was finally changed the next day.
The new room had a king-size bed, which was better, but the air conditioning was poorly positioned, blowing directly onto our heads while sleeping. By the third day of our stay, all three of us were sick—imagine coming in from the hot beach only to sleep under an AC that you cannot adjust properly.
Another concern was the kids' activity area, which includes ping pong tables and billiards. It was not consistently cleaned or sanitized, making it a potential hotspot for illnesses like Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease. This lack of sanitation is concerning, especially for a family-friendly resort.
That said, the staff were generally friendly, the amenities were great, and the resort itself has a lot to offer. However, the room designs and certain operational aspects left us disappointed. While our first visit was amazing, this experience makes us doubt whether we would return again.
