Personal attention from Pietro. Good breakfast, too.
Finding the property is not straight-forward. The first time we arrived was at night. Google Maps (* see below) brought us there, but I was uncertain whether the sign by the roadside meant that we should turn there or continue ahead. Turn right at the sign and head up the steep hill with a very rutted road (well, hardly a road!). It is quite a few hundred meters, you can't see the place as you drive up the hill, and you can easily think that you've taken the wrong track.
The next day we left and again returned at night, but this time Google Maps could not locate Agriturismo Gessi - it kept coming up with a different Agriturismo in Calatafimi. We tried to find the place again, but failed. We ended up in Calatafimi, late at night, where we went into a bar to ask for directions. Lo and behold, there was Pietro, our host! He was very helpful and got into his car so that we could follow him home.
Pietro went out of his way to help us a number of times, and spent a long time telling us about the history of the area (using an Italian-English translation app. It worked pretty well!)
I totally recommend this place, but take careful note of how to get there. And, once again, the breakfast was delicious.
